Regular Facebook user? But I bet you didn’t know some of these facts!

Facebook is the most used website next to Google and YouTube and has made a huge impact on how humans as a whole communicate and learn new information. When you really think about it, it’s actually scary. Some of the facts about Facebook below put this into perspective.

1. The reason Facebook is blue, is because Mark Zuckerberg is colorblind.

During an interview with Mark Zuckerberg, The New Yorker disclosed that he is red-green colorblind which means the color he sees best is blue. “Blue is the richest color for me,” he told the magazine. “I can see all of blue.”

2. Facebook tracks and records almost everything you do on the internet if you’re logged in at the same time.

The software company, Abine, found when they were testing out a new diagnostic tool that Facebook has more than 200 “trackers” designed to observe our internet activity.
3. More than 600,000 hacking attempts are made on Facebook accounts every day.
4. It’s possible to change your Facebook language to “Pirate”.
If you scroll to the bottom right of your Facebook page after logging in, you can click on the language, and change it to “English Pirate”.
5.Al Pacino was the first “face” on Facebook.

6. One in 3 people feel more dissatisfied with their lives after visiting Facebook, according to a study. 
A study conducted by researchers from two German universities has found that viewing the successes of other people can trigger feelings of misery, envy and loneliness.
7. One third of all divorce filings of 2011 in the Unites States contained the word “Facebook”.
In addition to this, according to the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, more than 80% of US divorce lawyers agree that social networking in divorce proceedings is on the rise. Facebook is often pulled up to prove cases of infidelity, as well as child profiles as evidence of poor parenting.
8. On average, Facebook earns $5.85 from every US user.
According to financial reports from Facebook last year (2014), in the first quarter they earned on average $5.85 from each Facebook user in the US.
9. The “Like” button on Facebook was originally going to be “Awesome”. 
In addition to ideas of a star and plus/minus symbols, the “Like” button was originally going to be “Awesome”, but was vetoed by Mark Zuckerberg in 2007.
10. More than 1.8 million new “likes” are made on Facebook every minute.
In an infographic by Qmee, it was revealed that in just one minute more than 1.8 million likes are made on Facebook. There are also 41 thousand posts every second.
11. It’s possible to set who will be able to manage your Facebook account after you die.
Known as a “legacy contact”, it’s possible to designate someone to manage your account after you die. They will be able to delete the account or manage it as a type of digital gravestone. This is a new feature and is not available in all countries yet as testing and debates continue.
12. Mark Zuckerberg turned down a $1billion deal with Yahoo in 2006 as the 22-year-old saying “I don’t know what I could do with the money. I’d just start another social networking site. I kind of like the one I already have.”
